Reducing the carbon footprint in Ecuador’s industry: Corporación Superior’s path toward responsible production

At Superior, we know that how we produce today shapes much of the tomorrow we are building. That is why one of the first steps in our environmental management has been to measure and understand our carbon footprint, supported by international certifications such as ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas quantification. More than an indicator, this measurement has enabled us to better understand our operations, identify strategic opportunities, and make agile, responsible decisions that involve every area of the company.

Transforming the operation from the Superior DNA

Transforming an operation begins with understanding where the impacts are and how we can reduce them progressively. Analyzing our environmental footprint has driven us to develop concrete actions, integrating sustainability in a practical and simple way into the day-to-day work of our Gente Superior.

Based on this analysis, we have implemented initiatives focused on energy efficiency, resource optimization, and impact reduction. Today, we are proud to share that 43% of our electricity comes from renewable sources, in addition to the historic reduction we have already been managing of more than 273 tonnes of CO2 equivalent at our facilities. We continue to strengthen practices aimed at the efficient use of materials, such as packaging recovery and the use of reusable alternatives. This is our small contribution to caring for the environment we share.

A long-term vision for the industry

Sustainability is not built through isolated actions, but through consistency and continuous improvement. For this reason, at Superior we work under rigorous international guidelines such as SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative). These standards enable us to move forward in a structured way, setting a clear direction toward a more efficient operation aligned with the major challenges of climate change.

Every improvement and every optimized process represents an opportunity to continue building a more responsible Ecuadorian industry, prepared for the challenges of the future and deeply aware of the impact it generates today. Because we are convinced that, by working with transparency and commitment, we nourish a better future from the ground up.
