Measure to Transform: Our Path to Managing the Carbon Footprint

At Superior, we understand that managing our carbon footprint is not solely about knowing how many emissions we generate. It means understanding where they come from, identifying opportunities for improvement, and converting that information into concrete decisions. This vision is an integral part of our Superior DNA, allowing us to move toward an increasingly efficient and responsible operation to support our Industry and Consumer Goods divisions.

Therefore, the measurement of our carbon footprint has become a fundamental tool to guide our actions and evaluate, year after year, our performance.

A Baseline to Begin Transforming (2024-2025)

The year 2024 marked an important reference point for Superior. From this exercise, we established our baseline, with a footprint of approximately 105,014 tons of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e). This measurement allowed us to understand the origin of our emissions and identify a relevant reality: the majority of our footprint is found in Scope 3, that is, in activities related to our value chain.

In 2025, our footprint reached approximately 121,226 tCO₂e, representing a 15.4% increase compared to 2024. However, this result must be analyzed within the context of our operation’s growth. Measuring the footprint allows us to differentiate between the growth of productive activity and the efficiency with which that growth occurs.

It is precisely there where the reduction actions that our Superior People have begun to implement gain importance:

• We promote process optimization so that the company’s growth does not translate proportionally into a growth of our emissions.
• We drive the continuous transformation of our energy matrix.
• We maintain the objective of not only producing more, but doing so in an increasingly efficient manner.

Technology to Measure Better and Act Faster

During 2026, we took an important step to strengthen the way we manage our emissions: we worked on the automation of consumption data collection through the development of an application.

This technology represents much more than an improvement in measurement, providing us with tangible advantages:

• It facilitates recording from each generation point, providing more standardized, organized, and reliable information.
• It allows for real-time monitoring of consumption at each location and the identification of possible variations outside of usual parameters.
• It generates alerts that help us timely detect deviations, failures, or atypical consumption, allowing us to act before the problem turns into a greater impact.

Transforming Our Value Chain and Energy Matrix

One of the main challenges lies outside our facilities, as Scope 3 represents around 92% of our footprint. For this reason, since 2026 we have promoted Purposeful Chain, an initiative aimed at working alongside our suppliers to identify impacts, promote emissions measurement, and develop joint reduction actions. Sustainability is not built in isolation; here, each strategic ally contributes their grain of flour to form an increasingly conscious, prepared, and committed value chain.

Internally, we are also transforming our energy to move forward:

• In Scope 2: We evaluate and develop initiatives to increase photovoltaic energy generation and leverage hydroelectric sources, seeking a self-generating and renewable matrix.
• In Scope 1: We drive the progressive transition from more intensive fuels, such as diesel, toward alternatives like LPG, improving efficiency and reducing the use of fossil fuels.

The carbon footprint allows us to look at our operation with greater clarity: to understand where we are, recognize the challenges, and measure how much we advance. The results obtained and the digitalization of our data are concrete steps toward a more efficient operation.
